It's okay to put things on hold

I've loved photography for a long time now. Like most people, photography started out as a hobby for me, and I just enjoyed it more and more over time...

I did some sessions & started selling landscape prints... I was really enjoying it, but life was also pretty hectic at the time, and I could only do so much.

Of course, as most women do.... when I felt like I wasn't doing my best or doing enough, I thought I was failing. I loved photography and wanted to do more, but felt too overwhelmed at the time.

So ultimately, it took a back seat to other things.

“when I felt like I wasn't doing enough, I felt like I was failing"

It wasn't until recently that I really started thinking about doing more photography again, but of course that doubt was there...

"but what if I still can't do enough?"

And then it hit me.....

It's okay to do what I can.

It's okay that I had to put things on hold for a little while.

It's okay to let some things take a bit of a backseat to focus on other things.

Have you ever been there?

Have you ever had to let go of something for a while to focus on other things?

It's okay!

It's okay to put things on hold if you need to.

We see it so many times..... people running around doing a ton of things, but because they are spreading themselves too thin, other things are suffering.

See... I could have done way more with photography, but then other things in life would have suffered.... homeschool, parenting, marriage, budget..... my sanity.

We aren't meant to do all the things, all the time, by ourselves. It's just not possible.

If we spread ourselves too thin, we are doing a lot of things but not doing them well.

So, how do you know when something needs to be on hold for a bit?

“If we spread ourselves too thin, we are doing a lot of things but not doing them well.”

When you are starting to feel overwhelmed, you need to take inventory of your life!

- What is everything you are doing?

- What's stressing you out the most?

- What are the things that take up the most time?

Once you acknowledge everything, you are doing you have to break it down and put some things on hold...

- What are your non-negotiables? (the things that you value most and will not give up)

- What are the things that you love to do, but isn't a necessity? (remember you can always come back to these)

- What are the things you can compromise? (How can you change things up a little bit to take the pressure off?)

We often think that we must be doing all the things and we need to do everything at an excellent level, but the truth is that if we spread ourselves too thin, we will stress ourselves out and things will suffer because of it.

Maybe there are some things in your life that you need to let go of for a little while...

Remember, it's okay to put things on hold if you need to.

It doesn't make you a failure, it makes you human and one that is proactively taking charge of their life.
