Advice for starting a photography business

Starting a photography business may sound fairly easy, but there's way more that goes into it besides having a camera, taking pictures and charging people.

It can honestly be overwhelming when you really start looking into it and taking it seriously.  It's for sure a learning process, and is different for everyone depending on where you live and what you want to do.

Here's my advice for starting a photography business......

Competitive side of Photography

Competitive side of Photography

When getting into the photography business, one thing becomes clear very quickly...... it is a super competitive industry.

Let's face it, in this day and age anyone who has a decent camera thinks they are a photographer. And let me tell you.....sometimes it is hard to find support within the photography community.......

Anna + Kevin // Engagement Session

She is a children's book author. He is finishing up his masters in history. Together they are one of the sweetest couples you will ever meet.

While back home visiting family for the holidays I had the honor of shooting Anna & Kevin's engagement photos.  This was a huge honor to me for several reasons but mainly because Anna and I have known each other since we were babies.  Anna has always been a good friend of mine and I couldn't be more happy for her. This was the first time that I was able to meet Kevin.....and honestly after meeting him, he felt just like family.

It's easy to see the love between these two.......

Anna & was an honor for me to take your engagement pictures.  I am so happy for you both and that you two found each other.  Seeing the love between you two, how comfortable you both are around each other and the laughter you share, I know that your marriage is going to a wonderful adventure for the two of you.  I can't wait to see you both on your special day! Love you both very much!
